Have I Got News For You - Christmas TV specials have final word on prankster lists Iceland on ebay episode.

Over the festive period our Iceland ebay listing made it way into two festive panel shows.

I witnessed it myself when I watched the Have I got News for You Christmas special (and watched it several times again on iPlayer).

And several people have emailed me to say they saw it on Big Fat Quiz of the Year over the festive period too.

That seems a good place to draw a line under the 'prank'.

After 'much demand' I have made a commitment to make more serious marmalade fact based entries to my blog this year, and to share more images of my marmalade related advertising items - yes indeed if I am good to my word, there will be two very pleased gentlemen in Japan and a happy lady in Canada (you know who you are).

Iceland listing on eBay taken down.

I am told that the unique visitor counter went past 146,000 before eBay finally ended our auction of Iceland. We had over 500 unanswered questions when the listing was removed and the 84 bids had taken the price to eBay's maximum of £10 million.

Work commitments prevented me from answering all of the questions, but they will all be posted on here along with links to news pieces on line.

The story was picked up by the Telegraph, The Times, Reuters and as far away as Australia.

Thanks again to everyone who entered into the spirit of the listing.

Barely an hour and a half since the last update, but.......

4377 views and 71 bids takes it over £250,000

With questions coming in literally by the minute, I have decided to go to bed.

What will happen next?

• Is this how I will make my first million?
• Will eBay end the listing overnight (surely the half a million pound will put it on someones radar).

Remarkably the Iceland listing has not yet been rumbled by eBay.

Two days into the ten day listing and it is now gathering some serious momentum.

A few hundred views is rapidly turning into a few thousand (currently over 2600).

It took 9 months to get as many unique users to www.marmaland.com

We have received nearly sixty amusing questions and 21 bids on our auction to date.

Started two days ago at just 99p it is already sitting at £66.99p - who says there is a credit crunch?

At 21.31 GMT on the 7th October, after a couple of glasses of wine we decided it might be fun to sell Iceland on EBay.

We were listing the financially troubled North European Country, not the frozen food stores 'fronted' by Kerry Katona.

Based on past eBay dealings we expected the listing to be removed within minutes rather than hours.

However at the time of writing, more than 38 hours after the auction started - it is still in place.

It has already been viewed by several hundred people has generated a couple of dozen of questions (with some of the more amusing published within the listing) & the country looks like it could go for the maiden bid of 99p to a buyer here in the UK.

We did glance at the EBay rules and regulations, and saw no evidence that a London based Marmalade themed superhero selling a Nordic country on the auction site is actually breaking any rules.
